Sara Aldrich
Literary Assistant
Sara Aldrich began interning for Brent Taylor in 2024, became his literary assistant in 2026, and has been a part of July First Literary from day one. After graduating from Hamilton College with a degree in neuroscience and creative writing, she worked in an academic research lab studying addiction genetics for four years before deciding to follow her literary passions. She also has a master’s in science writing from Johns Hopkins University.
Since joining Brent’s team, Sara has provided edits for multiple bestselling titles while supporting his office administratively and editorially, and July First authors benefit from her exceptional, complimentary editorial letters and brainstorming calls across all drafting stages. She has experience working with a wide variety of genres across children’s and adult demographics, including nonfiction, poetry, and all Brent’s wishlisted genres. She specializes in developmental editing and believes that early intervention, candid writer-editor communication, and strong craft fundamentals make a manuscript sparkle.
Sara is a lifelong lover of words (effervescent! ethereal! precarious!) and has a soft spot for absurdist memes. Her laundry list of hobbies includes fiber arts, writing, allergen friendly baking, and spoiling her army of cats absolutely rotten. She and her college sweetheart currently live—in Bella Swan’s words—“under a near constant cover of clouds and rain” in the Pacific Northwest, with a notable lack of vampires in their general vicinity.
