Opportunities

Literary Agent

Interested in joining the July First Literary team? We’d love to hear from you.

We are primarily looking for established agents with existing client lists and a track record of placing books with publishers, but we are also open to hearing from other professionals looking to make the jump into agenting.

We are particularly interested in agents with passion for and expertise in the following genres and categories: children’s books, young adult, graphic novels, and upmarket/book club fiction.

Send your resume, cover letter, and a vision statement for your client list to Brent Taylor ().

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are only able to respond to candidates selected for an interview.

Intern

July First Literary runs internships throughout the year and seeks intern applicants who are eager to learn about the publishing industry. This internship offers hands-on experience evaluating submissions and gaining insight into the agenting process from the initial query through publication.

Interns will assist with reading manuscripts, preparing reader reports, and conducting market research. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic reader with strong written communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for commercial genre fiction.
